Years ago, the Market Concert was created as a 'gift' to the residents of Delft. A wonderful summer evening in the center of Delft where everyone comes together to enjoy a beautiful concert. A festive prelude to the rest of the Delft Chamber Music Festival.

This summer during the Market Concert you can enjoy a beautiful program in which artistic director and pianist Nino Gvetadze, soprano Nelleke Ruiten and the Ciconia Consort led by Dick van Gasteren will present a festive Viennese evening. A varied program highlights all sides of the rich Viennese musical life. In addition to Mozart's brilliant 23rd piano concerto, there are beautiful late romantic songs from the fin de siècle by Korngold and Berg. The Habsburg Empire greatly influenced Hungarian folk music on Viennese musical life. With Leó Weiner's Divertimento, Ciconia takes the audience into these virtuoso and melancholic Hungarian sounds. The program concludes with some unadulterated nostalgic operetta evergreens.
