Pianist, composer, writer and draftsman Thomas Beijer studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Jan Wijn, where he graduated in 2011 with the highest distinction. He received composition lessons with Elmer Schönberger in Amsterdam and with Malcolm Singer in London.
By winning the Young Pianist Foundation National Piano Competition in 2007, Thomas placed himself at the forefront of a new generation of young pianists in the Netherlands. Since then he has been teaching all over the world as a versatile musician with a wide repertoire. In addition to his piano career, Thomas is also a composer. One of his most recent works is the song cycle “A Lock without a Key” - songs inspired by the COVID-19 lockdown - composed for soprano Laetitia Gerards. He is currently working on a concerto for jazz violin and orchestra.
Thomas is also active as a writer and draftsman. In 2017 he made his debut at publisher Prometheus with the novella Geen Jalapeños. Thomas Beijer has been artistic director of the Young Pianist Foundation since 2019.
