Bram van Sambeek was the only bassoonist to receive the highest Dutch Cultural Award: The Dutch Music Prize. In 2011, he won a Borletti Buitoni Trust Award and has been admitted to The Chamber Music Society programme of New York’s Lincoln Center. He is a very active soloist and has played with numerous orchestras all over the world. Bram held a professorship at the Hochschule of Cologne from 2017-2021 before returning to the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. As an orchestra musician he played for ten years as principal bassoonist in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and as a regular guest principal in the London Symphony and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Bram is a BIS artist, a label that presents his versatile approaches to bassoon playing; for example, the contemporary bassoon concertos of Aho and Fagerlund (2017) alongside the standard concertos of Mozart and Weber (2020) and his rockband ORBI (the Oscillating revenge of the Background Instruments (2019). In 2022 he released his Bach solo album.
