During the Oude Kerk Concert, the Spanish ensemble Forma Antiqva performs the baroque program De Sópitu. This instrumental and vocal ensemble is the joint artistic project of brothers Aarón, Daniel, and Pablo Zapico. Forma Antiqva was founded over two decades in Langreo, Asturias, and is considered one of the most important and influential classical music companies in Spain. The ensemble is committed with heart and soul to the preservation of the Spanish musical heritage. The search for lost scores takes them not only to cathedrals and libraries in Spain, but also to distant places such as Lisbon, Lima, Guatemala and Ireland.

In De Sópitu, the seven virtuoso musicians on historical instruments take you on a journey through a kaleidoscope of musical baroque pearls. Pieces that traveled from village to village, were transmitted orally, continuously developed and remained relevant over the centuries.

The Sópitu means 'sudden, unexpected, daring'. So be surprised by this spirited concert with popular music from Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia, Ireland, England and Scotland.

In the Oude Kerk, the sight lines are determined by the pillars and fixed benches in the church. That is why we work with three ranks here. The sound is good everywhere, but the view of the musicians and the distance to them varies per rank.
