Percussionist Xiaohui (Jason) Chen Studied at the Conservatory of Music Middle School in Beijing from 2013 to 2017 with Ms. Ni Ranran. After that he studied at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with Nancy Zeltsman and Sam Solomon from 2017 to 2021. Now, Jason studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Arnold Marinissen, Rachel Zhang, and Laurent Warnier.
Jason won several prizes among others the second prize of marimba in the International Youth Percussion Competition in 2013; the first prize of marimba and the second prize of vibraphone in the Italian International Percussion Competition in 2014; the first prize of marimba, vibraphone, and snare drum in the World Chinese Percussion Competition in 2016, the first prize of marimba Solo and the first prize of marimba duo in the Marimba Competition in Southern California in 2019 and the third prize at the Tromp International Percussion Competition 2022.
Jason performed at Zeltsman Marimba Festival in 2014, 2016 and 2018, he gave a recital in Boston (2020) and performed with AskoSchoenberg Ensemble during the City Life Project in Amsterdam.
