Lestari Scholtes studied with Ton Demmers at the Brabant Conservatory (young talent class) and completed both her bachelor's and master's exams with Jan Wijn at the Amsterdam Conservatory. She also studied with her piano duo partner Gwylim Janssens with the Silver-Garburg Piano Duo at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover. Lestari has won various prizes from a young age at competitions such as the Princess Christina Competition and the Steinway Piano Competition.

Lestari has given master classes at various conservatories worldwide and is a regular jury member at (inter)national competitions. She has given numerous concerts at home and abroad and has performed with, among others, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orchestra and the Israel Symphony Orchestra. Since 2014 she has had her own chamber music series 'Friends of Chamber Music' in Amsterdam. Lestari, together with Gwylim Janssens, is the founder and artistic-business leader of the Pianoduo Festival Amsterdam. This year she will release her solo debut album with works by Chopin. Together with Eduardo Paredes (violin) and Leonard Besseling (cello), Lestari forms the piano trio 'Trio 258'.
