Born in 1992 in Seoul, violinist Jiyoon Lee started her career as a violinist at the age of four. She studied at the Korean National University of Arts and with violinist Kolja Blacher at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin.

Jiyoon has won several prizes, including first prize at the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition (2016) and the David Oistrakh International Violin Competition (2013). Recent highlights include concert performances with Staatskapelle Berlin, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchester National de Belgique, Orquesta de Valencia and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra; in collaboration with Daniel Barenboim, Marin Alsop, Osmo Vänskä and Nikolaj Szeps-Znajder, among others.

As a chamber musician, Jiyoon regularly participates in music festivals around the world, including the Verbier Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival, Kronberg Festival, the Hamburg Chamber Music Festival and Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. She also performs in numerous concerts as guest leader of the Boulez Ensemble in Berlin with artists such as Zubin Mehta, Sir Antonio Pappano, Francois-Xavier Roth, Jörg Widmann and Daniel Barenboim. Jiyoon is principal concertmaster of the Staatskapelle Berlin.

Jiyoon plays the 'Circle' Stradivarius from 1701, on loan from a European benefactor.
