Izhar Elias (Amsterdam, 1977) is one of the most versatile guitarists of the moment. He studied at the conservatories of Groningen and The Hague, with the Groningen Guitar Duo and with Zoran Dukic. He was educated at the 'Accademia di Studi Superiori l´Ottocento' with Carlo Barone in Italy (performing practice 19th century music). He received Baroque guitar lessons from William Carter, Adrián Rodriguez van der Spoel and Lex Eisenhardt. He received interpretation lessons from the violinist Kees Hendrikse.

His poetic style and groundbreaking programming is based on an extensive understanding of historical performance practice (Renaissance, Baroque and early 19th century), chamber music and contemporary music combined with multimedia. Izhar  gave numerous concerts in Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, Australia and the US. He received the prestigious Nederlandse Muziekprijs, the highest state award that can be awarded to a musician who works in classical music. As a soloist he has worked with orchestras such as the Residentie Orkest, Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and Amsterdam Sinfonietta.

Since September 2019, Izhar has been a teacher at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
