Frank Braafhart received his first trumpet lessons from his father at the age of four. He took private lessons with Herman Hopman (former trumpeter Het Gelders Orchestra) and then studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Frits Damrow (solo trumpeter Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra). In 2012 he completed his Master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik with Reinhold Friedrich with distinction.

Frank has won prizes at the Princess Christina Competition, The Yamaha Trumpet Contest, The Aberdeen Music Festival and the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland competition. In 2007 he won a place in the Academy with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, which gave him the opportunity to play a recital in the small hall of the Concertgebouw and to play numerous concerts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at home and abroad under conductors such as Bernhard Haitink , Mariss Jansons, Jaap van Zweden and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Frank is a teacher and solo trumpeter with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra since 2017 and trumpeter with Asko|Schönberg since 2011.
