Arthur Kerklaan started studying trumpet at the age of 10 in the 'Young Talent Class' at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where he studied with Beatrijs Korevaar. He continued his 1st and 2nd phase with Huug Steketee, where he graduated in 2000.
From 2002 to 2005, Arthur worked as a solo trumpet player with the Mounted Weapons Trumpeter Corps in Amersfoort. In 2007 he was a guest principal trumpet player with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in South Korea under conductor Myung Whun Chung.
He also played in many major musical productions by Joop van den Ende, including Beauty and the Beast, Ciske de Rat, Mary Poppins and Billy Elliot, and he worked as a substitute for all major orchestras in the Netherlands and Belgium.
For years, Arthur has been associated with Sinfonia Rotterdam as principal trumpet player, with which he gives many concerts at home and abroad, and since the 2010/2011 season he has also been employed as a permanent trumpeter with PHION, Orchestra of Gelderland and Overijssel.
As a versatile trumpeter, Arthur is also active in various ensembles and as a chamber musician. He is associated with the ensemble for contemporary music, Het Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, and can also be heard regularly with organist Ton van Eck and pianist Wim Voogd, among others. As a major challenge, he also works at Neo-Fanfare 9x13, where contemporary music and theater are brought close to people at festivals throughout the Netherlands.
