The common thread of this concert: nature, world and love. The text of Schiller in Die Götter Griechenlands fits exactly with the theme of this festival. "Schone Welt wo bist du? Ach, nur in Feenland der Lieder lebt noch deine fabelhafte Spur. Ausgestorben trauert das Gefilde."

Robert Holl recently composed the work Ex Tenebris Mundi. The work will have its world premiere during the Opening Concert. Roland Holst - on which Robert Holl based his piece - also looked at nature, just like Schiller.
Verklärte Nacht is based on poem Richard Dehmel and is about love: "Two people go through bare, cold forest; the moon walks with them, their gaze looks on."
We end the Opening Concert of 2019 with the piece where we ended the Final Concert in 2018:  Verklärte Nacht.
