Apart of being a wonderful composer and performer, Mendelssohn successfully rediscovered many classical works that otherwise might have been left unnoticed. We all know about his great dedication to Bach’s music and revival of the St. Matthew Passion, but alongside the great composers of the past, he regularly performed and promoted the music of his contemporaries, Schumann, Berlioz, Gade and many others. This concert is a ‘thank you’ to his efforts and ode to his music, as well as a sparkling end of this edition of Delft Chamber Music Festival!
