The English Ying Lai Green studied double bass at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Duncan McTier, where she won several prizes and graduated with the highest praise. She continued her studies in Germany and was soon assigned to the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since then, Ying Lai has given concerts with various symphony and chamber orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist she has performed in the Netherlands, Germany and France with works by Bottesini and Dittersdorf. She also gives recitals throughout Europe and is a much sought-after chamber musician.
Ying Lai has collaborated on various CD recordings; the most recent is the commendation of Benny’s Gig for Clarinet and Double Bass with Julien Herve. Currently she is solo bassist with Amsterdam Sinfonietta and European Camerata and assistant solo bassist with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
