Violinist Wouter Vossen lives in Amsterdam with his wife, violinist Natalia Gabunia, their two children, and Ricky, the dachshund. They enjoy a busy family life crammed with football, school, and music, but still manage to take reasonably regular breaks in Tbilisi in Georgia.
Wouter studied in Amsterdam with Herman Krebbers and afterwards with Chaim Taub in Tel Aviv. As well as playing in the Storioni Trio, and organizing the Storioni Festival, he is active in other areas of music. He is the leader of The Hague’s Residentie Orkest: ‘I enjoy being able to play the big orchestral repertoire; the versatility and teamwork really appeal to me.’ He is also a regular guest of orchestras in Korea, Poland, and the Netherlands for programs in which he both plays and directs. ‘This seems to me a very logical addition to my other activities. I love the challenge of working without a conductor; it’s tremendously energizing.’
