Guitarist Stefan Gerritsen studied at the conservatory of Amsterdam with Lex Eisenhardt and completed first and second phase with honors. In addition, he was intensively coached by the Canadian guitarist Laura Young and he studied with Alex Garrobé at the Escola Luthier in Barcelona. Stefan is a versatile classical guitarist. As a soloist he was a finalist at several guitar competitions and received the second prize at the international guitar competition of Zwolle (2006).
Stefan feels at home in different style periods, from old music to the latest music. He is interested in deviant mood systems and microtonal music and plays different 31-tone tunes. With this he plays music from the Renaissance and Baroque, but also new music, mostly with microtonal ensemble Scala, of which he is the regular (electric) guitarist. Together with Pan-flute player Matthijs Koene he forms the duo Verso. Versois prize winner of several (international) competitions, including the Vriendenkrans, the Concertgebouw Prize, the Ibla Grand Prize (Italy) and Piazzolla award and the Comradio Competition (Barcelona).
