Soprano Marijje van Stralen studied with Margreet Honig in Amsterdam and was a guest at the Curtis Institute of Music (Philadelphia) and Britten-Pears school for advanced musical studies. She was a member of the Opera Studio Nederland ensemble and won the audience prize as a finalist at the Christina Deutekom Competition.
Marijje was a guest in an unprecedented broad repertoire with orchestras, ensembles, festivals and opera houses at home and abroad and worked with conductors such as Frans Brüggen, Jaap van Zweden and Reinbert de Leeuw. She has performed with the ELECTRA ensemble in the Lincoln Center in New York and in Michel van der Aa's opera After-life in Melbourne and in Tokyo. Marijje developed various educational projects such as the opera Le Devin du village, Mr Finney, the opera and Opera aan de Zaan. This season Marijje sings the role of Queen Mary in the opera of the same name at Baroque Opera Amsterdam.
