Marcus van den Munckhof studied cello at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and continued his education at the Tilburg conservatory. Here he obtained a master's degree with a 9. Marcus has been a permanent member of the Cello8ctet Amsterdam since 2013.
Marcus performed solo on several occasions with, among others, the Brabant Orchestra. He has also won several prizes at the Princess Christina Competition and the Young Talent Competition of the Brabant Conservatory, among others. He attended masterclasses with, among others, Dimitri Ferschtman, Anner Bijslma, Daniel Müller-Schott, LiWei Qin and Torleif Thedeen. Marcus forms the Trio d’Encore with pianist Caspar Vos and violinist Koen Stapert, with which he followed the Tour de France in the summer of 2017. They added color to the tour by performing during the stages. They have incorporated the tour experiences in the "Trio d’Encore On Tour" program. At some concerts, Marcus plays the cello built by his father.
