Jan van Grootheest started piano lessons when he was 7 years old. The music of J.S. Bach made sure that he fell in love with the harpsichord at an early age. After lessons with Anneke Uittenbosch, he continued his studies with Siebe Henstra at the Conservatory in Utrecht and also perfected himself on the clavichord with Menno van Delft.
Jan frequently performs in the Netherlands and also gives concerts in Belgium, Germany, Mexico, Denmark, Norway, France and South Africa. As a continuo player he has worked with many orchestras and ensembles such as the Residentie Orkest, Combattimento, Philharmonie Zuid-Nederland and LUDWIG. In addition to his concert practice, he works as a piano and harpsichord teacher at Het Klooster in Woerden.
