As a child, Evelien received piano lessons, but after hearing someone playing the cello during a concert, she wanted to follow cello lessons and decided to become a cellist. She studied in Amsterdam with Dmitri Ferschtman and in Bloomington at Indiana University with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi. During her studies she was a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra.
Evelien replaces with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and is the 2nd solo cellist of the Ballet Orchestra, which plays at the National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam. In Spain Evelien worked as a solo cellist at the Orquesta de la Ciudad de Granada and in Belgium she played as a guest solo cellist with the Brussels Philharmonic.
Last season she made a tour with the LUDWiG collective through Europe and the United States under the direction of conductor Barbara Hannigan. Evelien forms a duo with the Spanish pianist Patricia de la Vega and is part of the Delo ensemble. She has appeared in various chamber music ensembles at various festivals in Europe.
